If you want a REAL Alternate History of the US, this is for you. This is what the US could have been. Of course, it's a little boring, since they didn't have a Revolutionary War, or a Civil War (not a bloody one), and not even a Little Big Horn or a Wounded Knee (maybe I should do a little more research on those last two before I get carried away.) They did inter the Japanese during WW2, though.
I did read it cover to cover (except for the index), it's a trade-sized paperback, could be a college textbook. Not many pictures.
