Poor Mr. Brundy. He's finally convinced his wife to take a wedding trip to Brighton. But Polly Hampton has other ideas. She's a shopgirl fired by her employer while suggesting he would be happy to let her stay at his house (wink, wink). Polly has often been told by her mother (before her death) that Polly was of 'quality.' Desperate for another home (instead of the workhouse), Polly seeks another situation, to no avail. Finally, she decides to throw herself on Mr. Brundy's mercies. She decides to try to convince him that she is his long-lost sister. Since Mr. Brundy is an only child, this is a tough sell.

However, Lady Helen Brundy decides to help the girl, while Ethan asks his friend Aubrey to help unload the imposter from his honeymoon. However, Lady Tabor, Aubrey's mother, decides she wants to accompany Aubrey to Brighton, and an appropriate house is unavailable to lease. Aubrey and his mother arrive on the Brundy's doorstep, needing shelter. Now, the stage is set for the mayhem to begin.

The three-bedroom house is too small for five mostly-unrelated individuals. When the Brundys try to engage in some wedding bliss, a squeaky mattress embarrasses Lady Helen. Now, Ethan is desperate to unload the visitors from his honeymoon. This story isn't as laugh-out-loud funny as the first in the series, but I had a smile on my face throughout, and I read the book in less than a day. Overall score = 4.5 stars.
