While the title and the reviews made me think that this was going to be one of those âjust fro funâ books, it definitely made me think about some of the heavier things in my life.

That's not to say though that the book wasn't absolutely hilarious, because it was. I was constantly laughing aloud (often to my embarrassment) and the frequent Barbra Streisand and Golden Girls references kept me constantly smiling.

I guess in many ways the main character resonated with me in more than I expected. Although I'm not a thirty-something, New York single struggling to find true love while working my way up the Broadway ladder, I could relate to Steve's struggles with his love interests and for the acceptance of his mother.

Even though I highly doubt that this novel is worthy of entrance into the canon of literature (and I don't think that Rudestky intended to to write a novel that was), Broadway Nights was very well-written an, believable, and easy to read; throughout the book, I was constantly reminding myself that I wasn't in them middle of a real-life Broadway production (as much as I'd like to be ).
