Plots within plots, it's amazing what people will do for power. But that was characteristic of the Italian de Medici family and the English Tudors. They make the political intrigues of our time look simplistic. Yes, I know, this is a work of fiction, but those families were really amoral.

Meanwhile, I was surprised how good a swordsman the world's greatest coward---Roger Shallot---is.
