I'm at a loss on how to use the PBS bulletin board feature. I'd like to use it to list different book lists, but there's no easy way to browse a title, and then quickly link it to my bulletin board as there is for other lists like Book list, Reminder, TBR pile. . So... show me the way already! How do your use your bulletin board? Go on, brag just a bit...

I don't have  a Bulletin Board because I set up a profile and whenever I see a profile on a member I perceive them as being an involved, active member. Go ahead, set up a profile!

I use my bulletin board mostly just for me, with a list of what I've read for the month and what I'm currently reading. That's about it! I don't care if other people look at it, but it's pretty dang boring. LOL

I don't personally use it. I have mostly seen it used as a way to communicate to a specific group that person is participating in. Stuff like book clubs, wishes for the RAOK forum, games, etc.

I also look at profiles, not bulletin boards.  So I put a bunch of tour guide/newbie stuff on mine.

Dw, there is a feature on PBS, just for making book lists.  Are you aware of it?

Go to the top of this page, find "My Account" and use the drop down menu to "My Lists",  "Book Lists", then "Create a List".   Once there, you can read the description and directions and create a list.

ETA:  If you search the Help Center with the term "book lists" it will also bring up a FAQ's page for creating book lists.

Emily - Nice use. I'd never thought of that.

Hunter - Yep, I got Book Lists covered. Created two already.

What really leaves me stumped is that I cannot find a help document about Bulletin Boards. It's strange that they put effort into building the bulletin board feature, but don't explain it. Unless, I missed it somewhere in the help documents?

I used it for awhile for keeping track of books I had read, listed by month.  I don't use it anymore, since I have found that it's easier to do on Goodreads, but I still have my lists there and refer to them every once in awhile to remind myself what I thought about a particular book or author.

I love my Bulletin Board!

I have things like a list of Most Wanted books (sorted by genre) on my Profile page, and a list of all the swaps I am in at any particular time.  That is what I tend to look at when I go to someone else's page.

The Bulletin Board I use for me.  I have all the swaps and VB's I am in listed seperately.  I then list the books I am offering underneath the swap.  Once I know what book I am receiving, I add that book in green.  The Mail by date is in Red.  I also have an entry listed by date of all the books I need to read.  Once they have been read, I line thru them until all the books for that date have been read and mailed.  I have a second post where I list all the books I've read by month with the date finished next to the name of the book.

It took a while to set up - and it's been tweaked a couple of times.  But, before I started using my Bulletin Board there were a couple of times that I used the same book in more than 1 swap and ended up having to purchase another copy!  Since I've been doing this, I haven't had that problem.

As much time as I spend on PBS-I never do anything with my profile or bulletin board and I rarely look at anyone elses either.

DW - thanks for pointing out the lack of a Help Center topic about using the Bulletin Board. We've added it.

To see it, go to the page linked below, then click "How do I use the Bulletin Board feature?".

I thought I set my bulletin board to private so that I am the only one who can see it.  Did I??
