Buried by the Sea is the fifth installment in the A By the Sea Mystery series set in Melbourne Beach, Florida and featuring author Liz Holt and her friends at the Indialantic By the Sea, the resort owned by Amelia Holt, a retired 1960's actress who is also Liz's great Aunt. A group of archaeologists are staying at the hotel supposed to study the area in effort to learn more about the early Spanish Settlers, but really it seems as though they are looking for buried treasure, rumored to be hidden at the old Bennett Estate, the property next door to the Indialantic.

When the lead archaeologist is found deep in a hole and poisoned by a dart, all fingers seem to point towards Birdman, the elderly man who lives on the property. Knowing that her friend is not a killer, Liz sets out with the help of her PI boyfriend Ryan to dig up the truth.

A great setting, a zany cast of characters and a talking Macaw! Oh, the mystery was good too! The perfect way to spend an afternoon and I look forward to my next visit to the Indialantic.
