I Love this Dark Days series. This book explains things left out of the others, however, I found that I was able to piece together the ending well before it took place and yet it was done so well that even though I expected it, It was ever so surprising and satisfying to read it. I hope Jocelynn Drake plans to go on to let us explore the new veins (I see at least 4 of them) two involving the Naturi, one the bori (at least) and another the inevitable where with both the Naturi and the Bori who could pit Mira and Danaus as enemy though not of their choosing. I think in a future of this world the Naturi (or the "gods" which include Mira's and Aleon's parents) and the Bori will war and the Nightwalkers and Lichens will be their pawns with the humans a surprisingly strong possible savior. Who knows. I wish I could talk to Jocelynn Drake. This series should evolve into "The Awakening" or "Light Days". What do you all think? Let me know after you have read this book. This series should be read in sequence to get the full effect. I consider this series second to only the Anita Blake series which I crave more of and will be rereading from beginning to end. I wanted to keep this book, but for now I will share it.
