I'm thinking about buying a book that PBS has for sale for a swap I'm in this month. Can anyone tell me whether or not PBS offers a delivery confirmation or tracking number when you order though them? I'd like to support the site, but tracking is a deal breaker.  Thanks for your help!

I don't recall having tracking on any of the orders I did, but it has been a while. The Media Mail free eDC#s are different now too with the Jan 22nd change in postal rates and are no longer trackable on usps.com so I kind of doubt you would be able to track it online anywhere.

The best place to get an answer is probably Feedback or market@paperbackswap.com.

Keep in mind that the Marketplace can be slow. It is 7-10 days for processing alone. Then media mail shipping. You want to make sure you have a long enough time period for the swap for the book to get to you, I wouldn't expect the book before 3 weeks from requesting it. Some people got their books much quicker,  but some don't.

I've always had DC provided with all my PBS Market orders.  However, I haven't ordered any since the postal rate changes.

Hmm...not sounding as good. Thank you both for your help! I think I'll be sticking with Amazon by way of PBS.

I've never heard of them not providing tracking on an order either. Though, who really knows how the changes since the rate changes affect things. I haven't made or received any orders since then either. If you can find someone who has, that may help answer this question.

They provide tracking numbers but are very slow.  I wouldn't suggest them for games.  They might not get there by the due date.

They provided tracking, my order was sent by Smartmail, which starts with one carrier (DSL maybe?) and the final leg is delivered by the USPS. It took about 10 or more days to process the order and then another week for mailing. Very slow when you're used to faster online retailers.

I did get a few wishlisted books for around $2 plus a credit, plus shipping but I wouldn't use them for new releases. I've noticed a few MMPs on my wishlist available through PBS Market and they're selling for more than the suggested retail price.

They do provide tracking numbers (I just ordered two books) and they send you an email when the book has shipped. But it does take quite awhile to get to you. I would say 2-3 weeks just because of how slow it is. The upside is, you are supporting PBS when you make a purchase there, and you do get the books a lot cheaper than if you had purchsed through Amazon.

I've never ordered anything from the Market, but the general consensus I've heard has always been that it's slow compared to Amazon/etc.

Assuming you order right as the game ends, and the mailing date is still 2 weeks out with a 3 week receive by date, slow isn't necessarily a problem.  You should have around 5 weeks to work with there. But I guess you need to just decide for yourself whether you need it right away or not.
