CAROLINE AND HER KETTLE NAMED MAUD
Author: MIRIAM E. MASON
Caroline's young uncles laugh at her. "Whoever heard of naming a cooking kettle?" they said. But Caroline didn't care. The boys had names for their new guns-so why couldn't she name here new kettle? "I shall name my kettle Maud, because Maud means 'mighty in battle;'" Caroline said. "perhaps it will bring me an adventure!"

Wonderful book about a young pioneer girl who is surrounded by men and boys, except for her mother. Wholesome tale that deals with how she handles the prevailing view of what is and what is not appropriate for a young lady to participate in. My children (6yo and 3.5 yo) really enjoyed this book!
