I've acquired audio CD versions of Beverly Lewis's books The Englisher and The Brethren, and could not find any ISBN on either.  They seem to be the same as the abridged CD versions that DO have ISBNs.  I've posted them to my Shelf without ISBNs.

I was very surprised to find no ISBN on a recent product (2006) from a major publisher, Bethany House.

Does this happen often?

I don't really know; I do know that book-club editions of regular book-books often don't have ISBN's.

So my guess is that you have some book-club edition of an abridged audio book.

do they have ALL of the original packaging??? sometimes the isbn is on the outer plastic... sometimes it is on the paper outer cover....

i always get a nice sized sticker and write the isbn (and sometimes even tape it) on the actual cd case.....

I have some Christine Feehan ones that I bought used and they came without the original packaging.  The ISBN's aren't on the CDS.  I keep meaning to post them without ISBNS but I'm too lazy.
