I just started reading "Abandoned", the fourth Smokey Barrett mystery by Cody McFadyen. Just when I start to forget about the characters, there is a new book that brings them all back in living color. I love this author and this series. I think this may be my current favorite author. The only problem is when I finish one it is a long wait until the next one comes out.

Does anyone else like this author/series?

I haven't read any of his books,  but they do look interesting,  I'll have to try one of his books and see how I like it.

WWWAAAA!!!!!  My sister and I both love him!  But, I'm ticked off!  My book clubs have always carried his books and I always pre-order them.  But they don't have this one for some reason and I really don't want to spend $16 plus.  Dang it!

Something I'll never forget: book 2.....that...poor... dog.....nightmares....'nuff said.

I too just found Cody McFadyen's books.  I finished the 2nd one last night and am getting ready to start #3 today.  I didn't know about Abandoned, I'll have to look for it and add to my wish list.  Have you tried J.T. Ellison?  Her books are really good too, the same characters in her books.  Check her out!

I have had book 1 on my reminder list for awhile.  Well, I just hit the button thanks to this post. ;)

I am going on a trip, so I needed something to read, right?

Lynn,

J.T. Ellison is my next favorite author. I can hardly wait until her next one in 2010. Why do we have to wait so darn long?????

I just finished the first one, Shadow Man.  Sometimes I would just stop and flip to the back, look at the author picture and say "You are one sick bastard!"

Can't wait to read the rest!

His books are awesome. I'm in line (pretty close to #1) for Abandoned and can't wait to read it. After I read the first book in the series, I was blown away. I emailed him and he sent me back such a nice, long, personal email. He was very friendly and so down-to-earth. That made me like his books even more.

I am about to finish The Darker Side (paperback, ISBN 978-0-349-96225-1, like new condition), 27 wishers.  I would like to send this to someone who other another book from my shelf to save postage.

I just finished Abandoned, it's a great book.   I have enjoyed all four of the series, I hope he can write the next one really fast.  Smokey Barrett is a kick ass character, I so want her to be happy.

Just about to finish "Shadow Man".   I have needed a new author to help pick me up out of my reading slump and this one did it.  Its intense which I like but, the characters are interesting and likeable.   No fluff, right to the point writing.  No having to wait for something good to happen.  It just happens.

I just put the 2nd book on my wish list.

Don't you hate it when you find a new author and then have to wait for new books to come out?  I keep telling myself to wait a few years and then read a whole series, but I always cave.

This author and his books sound a little violent for my tastes.  That's why I generally stick to female mystery writers.  I find that they are a lot less graphically violent than male mystery writers.  I find when I read a violent book, I skip the violence which is stupid because then you end up in skipping a lot of the book.

Shadow Man has to be one of the most intense books I've ever read. Wow! says it just right. Looking forward to reading the rest in this series.

I'm a big fan of his.  Another reason I love this site - I "discovered" him from PBS.  I've read all of his books and eagerly await the next!!

Thanks, Debi for the info. I just ordered Shadow Man on here. I sure hope it's as good as you all say! It's always great to find out about authors that other people really enjoy.

7 weeks?!  You don't get nightmares easily, do you? Coz, I'm going to feel bad now if all y'all are traumatized!   I went ahead and pre-ordered the paperback of Abandoned, so I have about 7 weeks to wait for that to come in Feb.  I think I can find books to read until then, it's just a sickness.....

Thanks for that, Carol! I was thinking with so many pluses, it might be a good one to check out (and I thought I'd read that later books were less violent, but perhaps that was someone else)...but I'd rather not be traumatized...and this one sounds a bit too graphic for me at present. :-)
