Our beloved dog is 14 years old and suffering from blindness, arthritis & hip dysplasia. We have come to the heartbreaking decision that it is his time to go to Doggy Heaven to join his brother, who left us in January. However, it costs more than we can afford right now, even by going to the local SPCA or Humane Society. We don't want him to suffer any more, so we are doing what we can to get the money to do what we need to. We've listed things on Craigslist, recycled cans, and now I am selling as many credits as I can from here & Swap-A- DVD. I'm not asking for a hand-out, please don't think that!!! I'm willing to sell my credits for $3.00 each. I only have PayPal, so that is what we'll have to use. I have 20 credits available. Thanks! Janet |

Dear Janet, My sincerest sympathy for what you are going through. I just had to say goodbye and let my 14-year-old friend go in May. I ended up rescuing him as a puppy from a local animal emergency hospital - he had been hit by a car and had to have one eye removed. Because of this his then owners no longer wanted him! I rescued him or more truthfully he rescued me. After 14 years of faithful love and ever increasing arthritis he developed a stomach tumor and I did the only humane thing I could for him. My heart breaks for you, as I know the financial strain just to euthanize a pet. My only source of income in disability and what I am able to sell on eBay. But, I want to reach out and help you as someone helped me with my dog. As I cannot afford to purchase any credits from you, I would like to send you a PBS credit in the hopes that other members who are able to purchase them will step up and do so to help you out, including the credit I am "donating." I am sorry, but re-reading your post, I just noticed that you lost another beloved pet just 5 months ago. I wish you all the luck in your fundraising and hope that you can find comfort and solace in the memories of happier times you had with your dogs and know that you gave them all you could, including this last final, but heartfelt decision. Sincerely, Laura |

Dear Janet, My heart goes out to you and your family. It's not like you're losing a dog - you are surrendering a family member to final peace. I wish I could afford to buy some credits from you - but since I can't I'll be praying that all the necessary funding will come through for you. And don't let anyone try to tell you when or how much you should grieve. Feel your emotions - it's the only real way to get through. Katz |

Awww, thank you guys so much! And, Laura, thank you for the credit - you didn't need to do it, but I appreciate it much! It really saddens me, but I know it's the right thing to do. Zach & Tubby were my *firstborns* - brothers from the same litter. They were two when our son was born, and he's been raised with them. We had to put Zach to sleep in January, and Tubby went thru a stage of depression - they had never spent a night apart - even when they got fixed!! Although he's perkier now, his health has continued to decline and you can just see the pain in his eyes.... They both were loved bunches, they lounged on the sofa's, slept in our beds, and were our *bubbies*, and always will be! It hurts even more to see my son cry for them - it's almost double the pain.... but we all understand it is for the best & we will all be with him when Tubby goes to see his brother! |
