This is the 2nd book in the crime tells seris and involves one of the sisters, Cady. Her job is to investigate drugged horses at a racetrack and clear the client's friend's name. a Texas sheriff is in town supporting the same friend and falls for Cady. He's an alpha male though not as dominating as Kieran in lyric's cop and Dante in calista's men. He's actually experimenting with Cady in a few firsts for both of them and some of his lines are actually humorous. I like the stories in these along with the steamy scenes.
Despite the fact that "protect the little woman" is part of the code of the west [as well as the mission statement for the Testosterone Men's Club:] - lying to your lover for her own good is a VERY bad idea. As the cowboy hero in this book finds out. He thinks he gets away with it once and then gets nailed on both counts when he tries again...
The plot is centered on a race track in northern California - and eventually involves horse-doping, drugs, murder, and corporate skulduggery. The AFF and an as yet unseen Federal Agent are still lurking in the background and will undoubtedly make a major appearance at some time within the series.
Crime Tells Series
I really enjoyed this book. Dominant cowboy Kix and Cady are immediately attracted to each other. Kix helps Cady with investigation and a whole lot of other stuff in the bedroom department. Author does a great job creating good cowboy dialogue that isn't hokey. Looking forward to reading more in the series.
loved it of course! jory strong writes a spicy book.
