The Camomile Lawn
Author: Mary Wesley
August 1939. Five cousins gather for the annual summer ritual of a holiday in Cornwall; for most of them it is the last summer of their youth. The heady exhilarations of the freedoms brought by loss of innocence, and fear, are round the corner. War will change everything.

I enjoyed this book. I had just read another Mary Wesley novel that I also liked. I enjoy her characters and really felt like I had a good picture of the time she was describing. It was interesting in the way it bounced back and forth from the past and the present. It was a quick read as I felt really invested in it and wanted to know what was going to happen with all the characters.

I was drawn to the book because the author began writing at age 72. She should have started earlier. The book was delightful.
