Hello all, I recently received a pm from a person I requested a book from. They had marked it mailed and were heading on to the post office when they realized it had gotten wet. So my question is do we have to wait to get my credit back or is there a way we can cancel? Thanks so much.

I think the other person involved just posted a comment relating what happened.  in that thread, someone posted that once marked mailed, only PBS can cancel the order, or you can wait and let it time out.

Actually, if both parties are agreeable, nothing prevents the receiver from marking the book received at any time (i.e. even if it hasn't arrived yet and never will, you can still mark it received), and nothing prevents the sender from gifting a credit at any time (unless, they have none at the moment, of course - though they will have one the moment the book is marked "received").

Note that in a situation like this, I would not mark the book "received with a problem".

Thats what I would do, mark it as received and have the other person buddy back the credit. I would be so glad they let me know!

The only problem with marking it received would be that if the book was a WL book.  Then the requester would lose their place in line.  So, if it's a WL book, the only way to cancel and keep your place in line is to ask R&R to cancel it.
