Subject: canceling an order...

I just wanted to say I really wish that when an order is canceled by someone, either they would pm a reason or maybe the system would let you know before it moved to the next person with the book! I had a deal with someone and she canceled after printing the label and saying it would be mailed by X date. I don't usually look at my orders once they've been accepted and printed. This morning I looked only because I had found another book and couldn't remember if I had ordered it already or not. I noticed it said 'waiting for member' by that book. I thought ...'hmm, that one was already accepted!' So then I checked my transactions and found it was canceled and my order had moved to the next in line. It wouldn't bother me as much if the member hadn't already accepted, printed, and evem pm'd me thanking me for the order and telling me she would send them out by Wed. (today)!

If I cancel for any reason, either as a sender or receiver, I let the other person involved know my reason! So I had to pm this other person and tell her why I canceled... and that makes me feel bad.

Anyways... my point is: wouldn't it be nice if it informed you of a cancelation before ordering the next in line? (with the exception of WL books).... (and maybe that wouldn't really be possible, but I can dream right??)

I'm guessing that you got like a 2 for 1 deal or something and didn't want to spend a credit on the book alone without the deal and that is why you had to cancel with the second person?  That's understandable.  (just making sure I read that right)

It is odd that once the sender accepted and printed the label, AND thanked you that they would cancel without reason.

Bummer.  Sorry that happened.  I'm sure it was a disappointment.

edited to add that has happened to me as well.  It was a 2 for 1 deal that I thought we had an understanding on.  Then it was cancelled and went to the next person.  I caught it in time too and yes it would be nice.  But there's no way to tell the system this is part of a deal and you only want this book if it's in the deal the sender offered.  Would be nice tho.

I know what you mean Carol, I had the same thing happen to me this morning (I'm thinking we had the same sender), and had it happen two other times in the last month. This, even AFTER PM'ing the sender(s) to confirm the deal.

Frustrating!

Carol, the exact same thing happened to me this morning.  Mine stated would be mailed on the 20th so I was confused when I noticed the "waiting on member"...then realized the member offering the book deal must have canceled. It would have been nice if she would have sent a reason why she accepted then canceled. But, I also agree with you wishing PBS would notify us.
