Well it finally happened to me, I've been # 1 on the waiting list for "Parting gifts" by Larraine Heath for so long .Last week someone posted it to me and accepted it , I've been waiting for them to mail it. This morning I noticed I had one more credit then I had last night , my first thought was (since I have 3 books I mailed) someone received their book. But that wasent the case.  The person cannceled my book, I dont know why , I have no R.C and they didnt send a pm.  My question is "Should I ask why or leave it alone'?

I'd order it from amazon but its so hard to come by and they jack-up the price  on because of that.  Probably sold it on E-bay...lol

It might also be that they just did not mark it mailed.  So it would roll back to being on your WL.  (There were reports of wide spread power outages last week).  If it does arrive (a big IF) then you will need to mark it received from the transaction archive.

It's always a bummer to get a cancellation. I just had a book cancelled on me last week too. The person actually gave me a reason though. Apparently they posted it by picture/title alone (it was a combined book volumes 1-4 of a series) and they said they wanted a credit for each book. Too bad they didn't pay attention! They weren't a new member either.

By the dates it looks like the sender cancelled it.  They probably noticed damage to it afterwards.  I had to cancel one recently and it didn't give me a box to put in an explination.  I had to look it up in my Transaction Archive to pm the person. But not everyone may know to do that or even have it occur to them to do that.

I have an Out of Print/Hard to find Samantha James about to time out on me tonight. It's accepted and the mail by date was Monday. I was going to PM them but they haven't even printed the wrapper. If they had printed it, I would PM and ask if they just forgot to mark it mailed. But I'm assuming since it hasn't even been printed that it's not coming.  Hopefully it'll get posted again soon.  It actually hasn't been on my WL that long so maybe it's not that hard to find-I haven't looked for it on Ebay or anywhere else.

 I had that book not too long ago but sent it out.  Sorry, Lisa.  :-(

The PBS cancelled roll overs time out late at night.  11PM,  1 AM,  3 AM.  Not at 9:40.   Sorry.

 I thought I was going to have to cancel an order last night because I couldn't find the darn wishlisted book that I had to mail.  I looked high and low for it, just to find out that my daughter had horded it off to her black hole of a bedroom.  (Gotta love 11 year olds!) Thank goodness I found it....because I really didn't want to pm the person and say " I posted the book and hour ago, and it has magically disappeared"

I've been in the #1 spot for a book by Zane for a loooong time and was pretty darn tickled a few months ago when it became available.  The sender canceled the transaction the next day.

I went back to the #1 position for it and it became available again on 1/27.  The transaction is due to time out tonight. Bummer.

It sucks when you finally get to #1 , wait forever , and then get it posted only to have it canceled.

I guess it is not a huge deal, but I wish when a member cancels an order (in either direction) that they would pm the other party with an apology and explanation.  I think that's nicer and friendlier.  I once had to cancel an order when someone requested a book and I could not find it.  I was very apologetic, she was very nice and understanding, and fortunately was able to get ithe book from someone else as there were multiple copies in the system.  (Aside from that, I'm usually just plain 'ol curious about why someone cancels on me.)

I think more people would give a reason if it put up a block to fill in as to why you are cancelling.  Not everyone knows that they can find it in their transaction archive and do it that way.

I just had to cancel by clicking on "I can't mail this book".  A box did pop up with me to list a reason why I can't mail the book.  I listed the reason but wasn't sure if that info was going to PBS or to the requestor, so I went ahead and sent them a PM.  Thanks to reading these forums I figured I could find them in my transaction history.  Thanks for helping to educate me!
