The dust cover blurb says: "Give up my hat? My beautiful hat? No, I cannot, I cannot do that." Such is Anders' reply when offers are made for the magnificent new cap that his mother has made him. He will not trade it for a big yellow kite, or a unicorn's hor, or cookies, or candy, or cake. But when the King offers Anders his crown in trade for that cap that mother made, Anders is faced with the most important decision of his life.

I Say: One of those wonderful children's books from 30 years ago which are timeless and interesting. The illustrations are colorful, interesting and an important adjunct to the story.
