Another excellent naval novel by C. S. Forester. I was pleasantly surprised when I found a 1942 hardback copy in a local used book store for only $2. It is a stirring tale of an American captain commanding the USS Delaware during the War of 1812.

Captain Peabody and his crew ravage British shipping and shore installations in the West Indies. But just when he feels pride in accomplishing his duty to his country, he is confronted by a heart-wrenching problem. He and the enemy captain he must destroy, or whom he must be destroyed by, are both in love with women from the same family. When their ships finally meet, one must kill the other.

No matter how many books Forester wrote, he still didn't write enough to satisfy this reader.

A seafaring adventure set prior to and during the War of 1812. It features a Yankee ship captain who is a U.S.Naval officer. As Captain of the USS Delaware he escapes the British blockade of New York to fight the British fleet. A classic of Sea Fiction.
