Carl Linnaeus The Man Who Put the World of Life in Order Author:Alvin and Virginia Silverstein "Great Men of Science" is a new series of books designed to meet the needs for science biographies for the very young--ages 7 to 10. — There is no more interesting way to learn about science than through lives of scientists. This fact is at least as true for the youngest enthusiasts as it is for the older. Yet while there are many biographies of ... more »scientists for adults and for older children, there have been few for those in elementary grades.
The "Great Men of Science" biographies, planned to fill this gap, are written with recognition of the apparently insatiable curiosity that young readers have about science, and of their extraordinary ability to master concepts that even adults find challenging. They are factual, thorough and accurate. Some of the subjects are historical, some contemporary. The illustrations are drawings, documentary material, and/or photographs, according to whatever is appropriate to each subject.
