Carl Sandburg Author:Harry Golden From the author's Introduction: "I want to write about Carl Sandburg, but this will not be the definitive biography. My research, such as it was, was my love for Carol Sandburg. ... As the idea of presenting Carl Sandurg to the American scene germinated in my mind, I realized that all I would have to do was write a biogrpahical sketch of the Uni... more »ted States of American through the past half century and use Carl Sandburg as a reference point."
Sandburg is, perhaps, the quintessential American poet, elbowing out even Robert Frost for that post and beating back Walt Whitman who also made a pretty good run at it. This biography doesn't attempt to separate Sandburg from America, as the author understands the impossibility of that task.
Nice reference for anyone interested in Sandburg's life and the influences that rang through his work. Includes photographs and a list of Sandburg works« less
