Introduction from the Author
When people ask me where I m going to college, I ll sheepishly reply, Carnegie Mellon University. It s with a look of sheer stupefaction that they nod approvingly, having never heard of the school and thinking me a fool for receiving my college education from a grocer. On the other hand, the people I talk to who are aware of the University s incredible accomplishments respond differently. Their faces light up and they energetically reply, Really? Wow, you must be smart! The way things are going, I might be hearing this reply much more often.
Carnegie Mellon University is growing and improving so rapidly that its name recognition hasn t caught up with it yet. It s only in the last twenty years that the University has begun its ascent into the upper echelon of the nation s colleges, a place where it is sure to stay for some time. If one thing is happening on campus, it s growth. As the University expands its size and academic options, the school s students continue to grow with it. Carnegie Mellon is intent on molding its students into professionals, and it succeeds.
