I have not had good luck in growing carrots. I get these puny growths if anything. I do have to fence them as the deer eat their foliage. Any tips? I grow those from seed as that is the only way I have found them here. I have been able to grow pumpkins, tomatoes, corn, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, herbs, cantaloupes, potatoes, lettuce, spinach, peas, garlic, onions and lots of other greens. Oh, and can someone tell me which plants do not like to be planted together, please? Thank you. |

Only thing I can think of - are you thinning them out once they come up? You should leave about an inch or so in between plants so they have room to grow. My DH hates to see me do this, he can't watch me pull up all the plants to thin them out, but it needs to be done. Also you want to make sure the soil is nice and loose before you plant the seed so they don't have to struggle to push through hard soil. |
