In The Case of the Hardboiled Dicks, Det. Mac Slade is hired by a flaky Greenwich socialite to find her missing brother. But when the sons of several famous shamuses turn up dead- having been mysteriously boiled alive and shot with one of Slade's slugs- our intrepid sleuth finds himself not only accused of murder but running low on ammunition as well. Who is hardboiling the hardboiled dicks? Is this bizarre crime first degree murder or 212 degree murder? Will Slade be able to stay out of hot water long enough to solve the case? Will his gal Friday, Tuesday, show up for work on Thursday?
