Kirke Palmer is an Atlanta paramedic and former reporter. When a dying patient hands her an envelope and asks her to deliver it she becomes embroiled in Jake Kelly's quest to exonerate himself. Kelly, former Special Forces, has been in prison for seven years- convicted of a theft he did not commit. When he is mysteriously summoned to Atlanta he is eager for any information that will clear his name. Attempts are made on Kirke's life so she and Jake follow a series of clues in hopes of exonerating him and saving her life. Good story, kept me reading!
This book was great. It held you spell bound, and was great from start to finish.
This was a very good book. Kept me on my toes and is a love story too!
Two CIA officers and a Special Ops team try to exchange cash and uncut diamonds for some of Uncle Sams sophisticated weapons in South America. Unfortunately, the purchase goes terribly wrong and most of the operatives are killed or missing.
Since most of the money and all of the diamonds disappeared in South America, the US government, in general, and the US Army, in particular, prosecuted the only person who survived the attack: Jake Kelly.
After 7 long years in prison for a crime he did not commit, Jake wants to clear his name. Not long after his release, he receives a strange phone call, urging him to come to Atlanta (even though that violates his parole).
As he is entering the bar where he is to meet the contact, suddenly a man is intentionally struck and gravely injured. Jake realizes that he is one of the 2 men who were missing after the botched weapons-for-money-and-diamonds exchange.
Now starts a cat-and-mouse game Jake is trying to prove his innocence while US Marshals are looking to take him back to prison. The story is interesting and a quick read!
