Wow! This is a true story about the Mexico/US border in Texas. There is a lot of information in the book about their culture, how the police work in Mexico, drug cartels, and scariest of all, the belief of the people in Santeria, a dark religion tied up in their Catholicism. One leader rises up and he is an evil soul. The story running in the background is the disappearance of Mark Kilroy, a nice med student from the US. He goes down there to Matamoros to party and is kidnapped and used in a grisly horrible dark religious ceremony. I couldn't put it down, now I can't stop thinking about it. If you're interested in the ways of life on the border, this is a great read!
