This book is divided into sections by viewpoint. Claire, wife and mother shows us the reality of her marriage. Kate shows us how a six year old girl interprets the relationships of her parents and brother. Esau, 12 year old genius with mental issues tells it best in a very literal way. I highly recommend this book.

This is a good book that I would reccommend to anyone who is interested in the mechanics of two families moving through the grief process brought on by suicide, alcoholism, and mental illness. As dark as the book sounds, it has many humorous moments. The characters are very well drawn.

Not a fan of Marya Hornbacher's fiction. It was just so weird for me, having read her other fiction books like eleventy hundred times. it was a good story, though! And I will be keeping this book, since she is my favorite author :)

My parents have a cabin in Motley, so I was interested in this book for that and for having read Wasted. I don't usually enjoy fiction, but this was a great story, and all of the characters were so vibrant that I felt I knew them. Highly recommend.
