"God is love" is one of the first lessons we teach our children in Sunday school. Yet, as adults, we find that platitudes- no matter how reassuring they sound when repeated- just aren't enough. Paul Tudor Jones, one of this century's most distinguished students of Christian theology, wrote the essays in The Chain of Kindness to put Christian love to practical application.

Here is a religion thoroughly aware of, but unswayed by, contemporary faddish trends. It is a religion whose emotional appeal is buttressed by the careful reasoning of a powerful intellect.

Sections of this book discuss Christian love in the family, in the church, in the world, and in our relationships with God. A long and honored career in Christian thought is summed up in this work of insight and reassurance. Here is a book for the thoughtful Christian, and especially for those whose faith is constantly assailed because of elements of doctrine which they cannot reconcile with reason and experience.
