My new year's resolution is to relinquish all the clutter that represented last year (and the years before that) and create a home that is mine. One that reflects me, contains the things that I love, use or need. And after I have done that, I intend to embark on a life that is the same. Filled with people and activities that I love, are necessities or help me reach a bigger goal. I will shed the extra emotional weight of a disappointing marriage and a dysfunctional family. I will grow and become a better, more productive human being.
I will be accountable only to myself for my decisions and choices. I will use my skills and talents to improve the lives of people who have not had the privilege and opportunity that have been provided to me.
My resolution is to be remembered not for wealth, position, or superficial accomplishments. But to be remembered in a hundred little ways. I want a child to grow into a happy, accomplished adult and to remember that my encouragement kept them in the struggle when they thought they couldn't go another step. I want an elderly person to pass on peacefully knowing that their presence in the world had been acknowledged and held meaning for someone. I want to offer help to those who are struggling to protect and nourish their families. I want to change the world by changing myself.
