This is one of my favorite Mahy books. It's marketed as a YA Supernatural romance, but it's actually about a New Zealand high school girl named Laura who realizes that her little brother's sudden illness is perhaps mystical in nature, and so she seeks help from Sorensen Carlisle, an older boy that she's convinced is a witch. It's as much about the upsets and changes in Laura's life and about witches as it is about her growing closeness with Sorenson.
