Hey guys, I haven't hung out here in a while and soon won't be able to. :-( If anyone wants to find me or other former PBS friends, I'm willaful at GoodReads and on Twitter, and you can find me in this GoodReads group for ex-PBSers: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/156293-pbs-ex-pats

I sent you a friend request on GoodReads Willa. I've had the account for years but am only just now trying to figure my way around that place!

I'm leaving too.  Well the forums anyway.  I'm also on goodreads.  The link to my goodreads account is in my signature. I think I'll add a link to the ex-pats group too.

I'm sorry to see people leaving the forums.  I'm staying and I'm NOT joining another website.  I'm sorry to see all of you go.  Others that've gone, I'm actually happy to see go so I won't deliberately be joining another group they're in.

I think I'll pay to stay, though I don't like it. And I hope it isn't a sign that PBS is going under.

Well.... I didn't use my goodread in forever... but I remembered my password and attempted to join the ex PBS group.

I hope it will survive better than my frugal reader group did.

See ya there.

Meadow, starting on 2/15, PBS is charging a membership fee.  You can purchase a Standard Membership, a Limited Membership, or purchase no membership and be an a la carte member.  You won't be able to post in the forums any longer if you don't purchase one of the paid membership options.

What's the difference between Standard Membership and Limited Membership?

  • Here's a link to an overview comparison of the different membership options starting 2/15/2015. For detailed information, read on:
  • Standard Membership has unlimited fee-free swapping (Limited Membership allows you to request 30 books per year without fees)
  • Standard Membership has a 500-item Wish List (Limited Membership allows 200 items)
  • Standard Membership allows you to see how many available copies of a book are in the system (exclusive to Standard Members)
  • Standard Membership offers Friends Direct, Reminder List Filter by Friend, Easy Order from Friends, and the option to display more of your Book Lists (TBR, BIR, RL) on your Public Profile. (Exclusive to Standard Members)
  • Both Standard and Limited Membership offer Directed Delivery and Multi-Copy Requesting
  • Both Standard and Limited Membership offer some free 55-cent Printable Postage Printing Fees - Standard Members get one per month and Limited Members get one per quarter (every 3 months)
  • Standard Membership gives you access to two private Discussion Forums - one limited to Standard Members only, and the other for both Limited Members and Standard Members.
  • Limited Membership gives you access to one private Discussion Forum (accessible only to Standard and Limited Members).
  • Both memberships are renewable every year.

How much do they cost?

  • Standard Membership costs $20.00/year, payable from the Kiosk.
  • Limited Membership costs $12.00/year, payable from the Kiosk.

What's A la Carte Membership? How do I sign up for that?

  • A la Carte Members are those who have not enrolled in an Annual Membership
  • A la Carte status will be assigned to new accounts, and any existing accounts that don't enroll in Annual Membership before 2/15/2015.
  • A la Carte members can still swap books! For A la Carte members, requesting a book will cost $0.49 in addition to the Book Credit. That $0.49 is the "Swap Fee" and it can be paid either by (1) deductions from your PBS Money balance or (2) "free swap fees" - you can earn those by mailing books out with PBS Printable Postage.
  • You don't have to do anything to enroll in A la Carte Membership - that is the automatic membership assigned if you don't enroll in Standard or Limited Memberships.

what's really annoying is that its like the dvd swapping site-I never got an email. As discussion boards I haven't found anything about it except people posting a thread to talk about it not an official post (although I might have missed an official version). I do like that there are several versions of memberships, unlike the dvd version.it's still chearper than buying  the books-but its really the principal of it. and the fact that I very rarely get wishlisted books posted to me. that's my vent anyway.

Meadow-did you look in your
Spam/Junk folder?  I was complaining that I didn't get an email too-and then I went looking for it-it was there in my Spam folder.
