I have one WL book that was mailed to me today and another that was offered to me but hasn't been accepted yet by sender.  Both have disappeared from my WL-- used to be that they would be highlighted with note that they were "on hold" during the transaction process.  What's up with the change?

I thought the only time a book was put on hold on your WL by the system was when you have two versions of the same book and you get a request for one of the versions.

Amee's right.  The books that are offered to you from your wishlist will disappear from your wishlists.  Other versions of the same book will remain on your list but be automatically placed on hold.  If for some reason the wishlist transaction falls through (other than being cancelled by the wisher) then the book will be added back to your wishlist and you will be put back at the same place in the wish list line you were previously.  This is how some folks end up with more than 200 books on their wishlist.

OK-- that makes sense, but the other 2 versions of "Beyond the Body Farm......" on my WL are not placed on hold yet.

Also, thanks,Laura, for explaining the 200+ on WL--- that question seems to come up a lot in the forums, but I've never seen an answer before.

I think you are thinking of WL books you have posted to your Bookshelf, those are onHold on your shelf until the buyer's remorse are over, but WL books have always come off of the WL as soon as an offer was made to you.

For the two versions that are not on Hold - do you have RCs? I *think* they have it so that the Hold doesn't take effect until RCs are accepted, I know I had some Hold before an RC was accepted in the early stages of the WL Hold function and it caused some problems and I thought they changed it after that.

Sometimes when you have more than one copy of a book on your WL, they mark it and sometimes they don't.  Think it might have something to do with whether both versions are the same kind (i.e., both paperback or both are hardcopy).  I really don't know, but do know that sometimes mine get marked and sometimes they don't.  I don't take either copy off though until I have the other in my hands, or if I get to the top on the other copy before the first gets here, then I will decline the second copy.  Pat

There are quite a few books in the PBS system that are actually different versions of the same book, but for some reason don't come up together in the Wish Expander. Whenever I find one, I contact PBS and have them link the different versions together. However, if the books aren't listed together in the Wish Expander, then PBS regards them as different books and won't put them on hold when one version of the book is offered to you.
