I have become interested in the Newford series of books by Charles de Lint about a fictional New England town by the name of Newford. I did some online research on these books and found this chronological reading listi for them. This seems to be a good place to save it where I can find it again, and I thought it might benefit others. Have you read any of these books and what did you think of them? Some of them are listed as Young Adult books.

Aaagh! I read Widdershins last year and really enjoyed it. I knew enough from the story to know that there were others, but I didn't realise I read the last one!! And there were 14 others before it! It was really well written, I thought.

I looked up a few of these books and was stunned to see that some of them go for $50 or more at Amazon. Seven Wild Sisters starts at over $90! Wow! I love de Lint, but there ain't no way I'd spend that kind of money for a novel! |

I have read all of De Lint's Newford books up through 1999's Moonlight & Vines. I loved the setting initially, but burned out after reading through 5-6 books too fast. Not to knock De Lint's writing, I thought he was a good storyteller and great at creating believable, empathetic characters; it's just that the whole "Celtic-Native American-New Age-hippie-artsy-musicians" thing got pretty stale after a while... I much prefer the two volumes he penned for Philip Jose Farmer's science-fantasy series The Dungeon. |

I've read them all : D I've been reading deLint since way back when, when all you could find were short stories in anthologies and special order the chapbooks (for a mint, even then) I used to loan my copies out but I've had to replace them so many times (they never seem to come back) that I've reached the point that I just purchase copies for others. I just love deLint... |
