An inspiring tale of a young boy in a foreign country who is 'adopted' by American servicemen. This tale is not unique, it happened many thousands of times in the foreign wars which Americans have fought in. What makes this tale special is the bond between the boy and the Marines, a bond lasting over 35 years of separation and beyond.

So strong was this bond Charlie refused to condemn his American friends to the communist government of his country. As a result, without his Marines buddies knowing, Charlie and his family suffered years of abuse, imprisonment and want.

And what does it say of the American Marines who told the story of the boy to their families and friends over the decades? What does it say about these men, when a number of them carried his photograph in their wallets all that time?

This is a story of a strong brotherhood and its much deserved happy ending.
