William W. reviewed Charming Small Hotel Guides France (Charming Small Hotel Guide France, 10th ed) on
Terrifffficcc book for travelers who do not like surprises. My wife and I find half the fun of travel is the planning and we in essence have a virtual vacation months before we even go, through these books.
While text is somewhat informing, maps and photographs are overwhelmingly the stuff decisions are made from and dreams consist of. We prefer small hotels and B&B's to larger hotels because of the personal contacts we make with other guests who are travel advisor's in their own rights, and because we often develop almost familial relationships with the proprietor families.
This publisher is exceptionally good, the book size in convenient for a travel bag on the plane and makes the five minutes before lights out at night easy because of the small size and light weight, and it is packed with good crucial information. Five Stars
