One of five books based on the Rosewood, Texas series.
#1. Family Ties, #2 Promise of Grace, #3 Protected Hearts, #5 Child of Mine.
From the back cover of "Child of Mine"
It was love at first sight when Matt Whitaker opened his door to see a baby in his brother's arms--Matt's nephew, Danny, abandoned by his heatless high-society mother. And then Danny's father was killed in an accident, and Matt, an ill-prepared bachelor, vowed before God to love and protect this child as his own.
Danny's mother, Leah Hunter, had been desperately searching for her baby for eight years--ever since his father snatched him. At last, a clue leads her to the small town of Rosewood, Texas...and her son's guardian.

Remember the panic and anxiety when you lose sight of your child for even a few seconds. Compound that by 8 years of anxiety over a child who has been stolen from you. Where is he living or how he is faring? When Leah finally finds her son, she is horrified to learn that she has been cast as the bad parent in the situation. A moving tale of a mother and a "father" who both love the same child and are determined to do what is best for him.

This is #5 out of 7 current books in the Rosewood, Texas series. The book is a quick read, albeit somewhat predictable if you have read any of the series. The book can be read as a stand alone as each book portrays two main characters (man and woman) with other characters brought in subtlety from the previous books. The author, Bonnie, does a great job explaining the other characters from earlier novels in the series.

This book kept my interest as Leah finally found her son that had been kidnapped from her eight years ago. Matt wasn't so sure of Leah's story, especially since he had certain ideas about the heartless, irresponsible person she was.

The story is a wonderful and romantic struggle between the two--with the little boy pulling in both directions!
