I dont have kids but I love reading kids' books, usually the chapter books though thanks to my friend having a baby I guess I'll get my share of the little bitty ones too! I love the Boxcar Children and still read the newer ones they've come out with long after my 'time' for them! The Secret Garden is a fave...Trixie Beldens....recently decided I HAVE to read or listen to the Harry Potters! I have to admit I still haven't made my way through all the Nancy Drews or even close on the Hardy Boys but I enjoyed those. I still remember a really old book titled' Pony Girl' I checked out of the library ALL the time except when they told me I couldn't - had to let it stay on the shelf til the next visit so someone else would have a shot at it. I also loved Richard Peck's A Year Down Yonder on audio! hilarious! A Long Way From Chicago was good on audio as well but I think the woman narrating Year down yonder was much better plus I related to the girl's story more than the guy reading for both of them. I also liked the audiobooks of Judy Blume's - the 'fudge' series was so good! |

Well, my current fave authors are Andrew Clements and Margaret Peterson Haddix. Both are fabulous authors and weren't around when I was a kid. I have most of their books on our shelf at home... However, my teens aren't interested in the Haddix books and that BUGS me! They usually take my advice and LOVE the ones I think they will enjoy and yet, these haven't been cracked open. This summer I also read Eragon and Eldest. I'm looking forward to reading the third in the series! |
