Due to lack of funding and unavailablity of materials in this area,The Child Develpment Center at the Collage of the Redwoods in Eureka,Ca needs donations of childrens books especially bilingual childrens books. This center takes children of students for low cost childcare and preschool. If anyone wants to make a donation to the school please contact me. I can do a credit or two here and there but ideally we need donations.

Thank you CDC

Hi,

If you could let me know if they want books that are not bilingual and give me examples of the kind they want.

I have some Berenstain Bears and Frog and Toad books I could donate.

Thanks for doing this, are you a teacher there?

I sent you a PM. I have a few kids books that I'd be happy to donate.

Any book is needed and wanted. I am not a teacher there but my best friend is.I gave her a huge stack of books for Christmas. I felt a bit silly at first but then she was so touched. She told me that there was a need for books at the school. She was especially excited about the 2 bilingual books I found when I was in the city.(S.F.)These books were not in the best condition but she did not care.I was suprised to learn that in an area largely populated with immagants who speak English as a second language there was a shortage of approperate materials in the preschools.
Then a couple days ago we were in Dollar Tree together, and Karie had to choose between what she needed for herself and her teenaged child and what she needed in the classroom. She told me how she had provided many of the things that were in her room. That was when I became aware of how greatly the Center needed things.I knew I could find help for books on here so I just wanted to do my part. I am also going to ask the women in my church for donations of other things that they may have laying around.

I know that this is a problem with many schools but I thought if we got together we might be able to help this one progam that helps so many.

I'm kinda new here - and i see BUMP everywhere - what the heck does it mean????

and also pm me with an address i have some children's books -  I'm sure I could part with some of what we have ... I'll put as many as I can in a Flat rate Priority USPS box for you.  from what I can tell i have about 20 children's books already picked out - is there a need for pre teen books I have some ?  Also I was able to find one sole bilingual book, believe it or not we got it in a cheerios box  from one side it's what mommies do best from the other it's what daddies do best in English and Spanish...

Let me know I'll mail it out Monday or Tuesday.

I have 6 children so we have had some books pass through our shelves in that time - I still need to keep a bunch as I still have 2 very young children (7 months and just 2 years ) as well as 2 pre teen girls (10 + 12.  They boys now 15 and 17 now buy most of their own books or claim that the books bought for them belong in their "library" on the shelves in their room so giving them up is a no go --- lol   but I think what you are doing is WONDERFUL and I hope that in some small way this helps...  credits - who needs credits when what you can do can make a difference.
