I'm looking for a book that I read when I was about 9 years old ~ that's been almost thirty years now!  I remember loving it, but not the title and not much about the story.

The book is a children's science fiction book.  The main character traveled through pools of water (not the Narnia books) to a futuristic world.  There was a picture of a green pool of water on the paperback cover...  that's all I remember besides really random details.  Any ideas?  I know it's not a lot to go on.

Thanks for reading!  ;)

Hi, Melani,

I suggest trying www.abebooks.com and going to the 'Book Sleuth' section -- make your heading as descriptive as you can, with the kind of info you have posted here.  There are children's librarians, kids' book authors, booksellers, and collectors who will answer.

Good luck!

Ohh.  This sounds familiar. I was a total sf geek in grade school.

The first three names that poped into my head are not leading me to it,  (Edward Eagers, John Christopher, and Madeline L'Engel.  EE is mainly fantasy.  JC is mainly machines.)
