"Excellent, practical, sensitive wisdom embodying the most positive insights of modern psychology . . . readable, personal, down-to-earth." Dr Robert Goldenson, Consultant, N.Y. Institute for Child Mental Health
Great Book
This is considered a classic - I found it taught me a lot. I think one of the bext gifts we can give our kids is a happy chldhoood and a healthy self esteem certainly helps towards that goal!
I always knew I wanted to be a mother but at the same time I was afraid of being one. I bought this book many years before I had children to understand more about children. I am now a mother of 2, 10 and 12, and people ask me all the time if I am a psychologist. I AM NOT, but that book helped me understand and raise my boys every step of the way.
This is an older book, now out of print. I read it years ago and have given copies to several new mothers, which I intend to do with this one. In my opinion, this book should be required reading for all new mothers! It is the best book on helping children develop a good self-concept that I have ever read. I used it when my children were young and made sure they had a copy when they had children. I heartily recommend it.
