The story takes you from Boston, London and to China. With a host of wonderful characters. It's a story of a family of ship builders and there adventures. It shows what China was was like when it was a closed country, which I found very interesting and amusing. MW Scott is a gifted author and I hope to read more of his works. Once you pick up the first of the Rakehell Dynasty Series you won't be able to put them down!
