Although Miss Parloa began her career as a cook, including a stint as pastry chef at the famous Appledore House on Appledore Island off the coast of New Hampshire, she went on to establish Miss Parloa’s Cooking School in her hometown and later, to cofound and teach at the world renowned Boston Cooking School.
She wrote numerous articles on food and its preparation for Ladies Home Journal – in which she was part owner – as well as a series of popular cookbooks, many of which are still in print today.« less
