DH & I saw this movie last night and loved it. It is a movie about a firefighter who is losing his marriage. His dad gives him a book and tells him to take 40 days and follow the book to try to save his marriage. There is one thing per day that he is to do to demonstrate love, kindness, gentleness to his wife. (yeah, it's a chick flick).I laughed, I cried, I laughed, I cried, I laughed, I cried. They quote scripture and show people coming to a saving faith in Christ which is why I recommended it for Christians. I doubt others would be interested. I found it fasinating that this movie was made by a church and many of the "actors" had no previous acting experience, or very little. Of course with some of them you can tell because their acting is poor. Watch the clips for more info. Fireproof trailer - http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/ Today interview with Kirk Cameron (who refuses to kiss the actress who plays his wife) - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26851749/ One thing I didn't like was that most everyone had an accent but Kirk didn't, and his parents had very thick southern accents, so it made that hard for me to stretch, kwim? I saw the book at Walmart yesterday and thought about buying it. Has anyone read it? Is it any good? |

I saw the movie this weekend. It was amazing. I read the book before the movie came out. It was one of the best books I have read in a long time. It was similar to the movie, but there was so much to it. The book focused more on their problems, how they met, as well as some of the other characters in the movie. My friend is now reading my copy. I would definetely reccommend the book and movie. My husband bought me Love Dare tonight, so we are going to read it together. |

We saw the movie last night, and we loved it. I'm not so sure I'd call it a chick flick though. I thought it was more of a drama, and my husband was drawn right into it. Anyway we are telling everyone we know to go see it if it's in a theater near them. |

Looks like the wishlist is growing fast. :o) |

I heard about it on Focus on the Family it sound intense. The verbal fight they hired was VERY INTENSE!! I was glad they had warned us before they aired it. I think if you have been in a rough marriage you need to be warned about it. Could easily set off old memories and feeling. I think I will see it but when you come from that you need to know ahead of time. |

The movie came in at #4 at the box office! I didn't get a chance to watch it but I'm very happy for them. :o) |

If you ahven't already, you should also see "Facing The Giants". It was also made by the same church, and you will see many of the same faces in "Fireproof".
Opening weekend, "Fireproof" was #4 in the top 10. That's with the film just showing on 800 screens compared to "Eagle Eye" that opened on 2400 screens. This weekend, "Fireproof" will remain on those 800 screens and add 69 more for a total of 869.
But, this weekend, you have competition within the Christian faith based movie genre. This weekend "Billy: The Early Years" opens in theaters across the country. It is the story of the early ministry of Billy Graham. I got to be an extra in one of the scenes, and the movie was mostly filmed in my hometown. |

Its made by Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany, GA - its the church my Dad was a member of before he passed away. I wish everyone would get a chance to visit this Church just one time - you would be blown away by the love and awesome ministry this Church has to bring people to know God. Sherri |

CNN article on the surprising success of Fireproof. http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/10/christian.fireproof.success.ap/index.html I'm not surprised, Christians across America are craving morally upright movies. |

My husband and I saw the movie this afternoon and agree it was wonderful. It takes a lot to make my husband tear up but the movie did more than once. We used to watch Erin Bethea perform when she was a theater major at the Universary of Mobile in Mobile Ala. and are happy to see her in such a worth while project. If you have not seen it, do so and be moved. Susan |

Saw this last night...amazing! The verbal fight scene was very intense, made me cringe just to watch it. But that kind of thing is happening for real all of the time. Sad. Last Edited on: 10/12/08 10:47 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I belong to a Christian Divorce Recovery group and one of the leaders watched it and warned us away from it - he said it was actually too much for someone who has actually been divorced and is still in the healing process. |

It may be, Bren. |

The movie is good. Even my teenaged son liked it. |

Sherwood Baptist made another movie before "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof." It's called "Flywheel," and the main character is a used car lot owner/salesman. I must have heard about it from the Focus on the Family or Family Life Today broadcasts about "Fireproof." I borrowed Flywheel from my library and thought it was worth watching. I'm looking forward to seeing Fireproof. |
