Posted on the BB forum but I thought I'd post here too as I hang out here more. Background: a club I belong to has decided to adopt a couple of families for Christmas. One of the mom's wants "Christian romance books". I thought I could get her alot more books here on PBS than thru the bookstore-and recycle as well. Or, do you think that giving used books is tacky? As long as they look new? What do you think? And help with titles, imprints and authors would be helpful too-as I've only read a couple of Harlequin Inspired Historicals-that's the only one I know of. Please pm me if you have a deal to offer. As this is a gift-books need to be in "like new" condition. TIA

I might suggest you post a request for suggestions in the Christian forum... |

I'm mixed on used gifts for presents...I dont' mind receiving them..one friend has done this and she knows I buy used books for myself all the time. no biggie. but unless it looks brand new and you check it thoroughly it may have something that makes it known it's used. or maybe if you put in a note that you knew she would like some christian romance and you knew you could get more for the money here. I don't know though. I read the Love Inspired sometimes but those are monthly releases. I also like Susan May Warren and Rene Gutteridge. still new to this subgenre myself so not sure of all the authors. also like christian chick lit and laura jensen walker is a favorite of mine there. |

Steeple Hill Love Inspired is a Christian romance series. You can search amazon by using the words "Christian romance" and books will come up. As for giving used.....I tend to wrap a 2 or 3 books together with a nice bow around them to make it more of a presentation. You could tuck in a new bookmark to give it more of a nicer look. To a person who loves books, I don't think they see things as used. If it's want they want to read, who cares if it's been handled before....so have 90% of the books at Barnes & Noble, lol. |

If you're looking for authors, no matter if the books are new or not (which personally I wouldn't care if it were me), some names to check into are: Karen Kingsbury, Dee Henderson, Tamera Alexander, the Love Inspired and Steeple Hill books already mentioned and you might want to go to your local bookstore and check to see what they have in hardback. Those are usually ones that are highly wishlisted. |

Due to the generous offers, I am good to go. Can't believe the amount of help I've received over the last day or so. I absolutely agree about the presentation part. These will definitely be wrapped and presented nicely. Will be on the lookout for a good bookmark.
Thanks again,
