A wonderful, inspiring story of stranded travelers on Christmas Eve who decide to make the best of unexpected circumstances. A recent widow, a serviceman on his way home to propose marriage, a set of brand new parents, and an assortment of other characters contribute to this heart-lifting story. It made me cry and put a smile on my face all at once. And it put me in the Christmas spirit!

An easy read; for those who want a quick inspirational and feel good book. Shows how we are not always in control of everything; and what happens when you open your heart.

This is truely a completely magical Christmas story! I got goosebumps and that's not something most books do to me. Debbie Macomber is a true gem! This is the kind of book that shows us that despite the hustle and bustle of Christmas, there is a real meaning of Christmas. It's an attitude....it's in our hearts...and shows through our actions. That's what this book shows! It's a beautiful Christmas story and it's short. I read it in a couple of hours...mainly because I didn't want to put it down. I absolutely loved it!

"December 24. A shabby train depot in a small New Hampshire town. A group of people is stranded there on this still and snowy night, their beautifully wrapped gifts piled uselessly around them. Can this be Christmas?

No hopes and dreams are met tonight as they spend Christmas Eve with strangers instead of the people they love. Anticipated joy becomes disappointment; excitement becomes despair.

Then the depot's elderly reservations clerk brings them a small, leftover tree. Local kids come caroling. Families deliver food for the hungary travelers. And it's beginning to feel like Christmas!

Sharing Christmas cookies and stories and presents, hanging makeshift decorations on the tree, these strangers discover the real magic of Christmas. They open their hearts to each other, and for a few hours they're family.

Chrismtas comes but once a year, a Christmas like this comes once in a lifetime."
