While not groundbreaking, David Eddie's "Chump Change" is a funny and worthwhile take on the traditional "young man trying to make it in the modern world" theme. The book follows the aspiring writer David as he goes through a string of unsuccessful jobs and relationships and tries to figure out how to grow up.
