My mother runs her church's library.  She is always asking me for books I would recommend.  I have come up with several for her, but I tell her I'll ask my "source".....ao....ladies....and gentlemen......What books pop into your mind???

Is she looking for fiction, non-fiction, or both?

I love Francine Rivers for fiction.  My favorite non-fiction choice would be Stormie Omartian.

The church library lady at my former church would always go to the Christian bookstore once a month and buy two books from the "bestseller" or "new" shelves.

It kinda depends on the demographics of the church, IMO.  A church with an older, established congregation is going to be interested in different authors than those geared toward a younger, seeker type congregation.

Here are some authors off the top of my head:  Beth Moore, Chuck Swindoll, John Eldredge, Anne Graham Lotz, Joyce Meyer.

Our church library has a very wide variety of books, from Christian Chick Lit to Bible study guides.  I usually drift to the Christian Fiction section.  Some of my favorite books are

Calm, Cool & Adjusted (Spa Girls Collection) by Kristin Billerbeck

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

Love Comes Softly by Janette Oke (and that whole series by Janette Oke)

The Trouble with Tulip (Smart Chick Mystery) by Mindy Starns Clark

Sisterchicks Down Under (Sisterchicks) by Robin Jones Gunn (all the Sisterchicks books are good)

Jan Karon's Mitford Complete Set of 9 Books: At Home in Mitford; A Light in the Window; These High, Green Hills; Out to Canaan; A New Song; A Common Life; Shepherds Abiding; Light From Heaven by Jan Karon

Death of a Garage Sale Newbie (A Bargain Hunters Mystery) by Sharon Dunn.

Sahm I Am (Steeple Hill Cafe) by Meredith Efken

Dying to Decorate (Friday Afternoon Club Mystery Series #1) by Cyndy Salzmann

Crime and Clutter (A Friday Afternoon Club Mystery) by Cyndy Salzmann

She's Out of Control (Ashley Stockingdale Series #1) by Kristin Billerbeck (good series)

Farther Than I Meant To Go, Longer Than I Meant To Stay by Tiffany L. Warren

Miss Invisible (Women of Faith Fiction #17) by Laura Jensen Walker (Women of Faith puts out a good line of Fiction novels)

I hope this gives you some ideas to give your mom.  I know many people enjoy Beverly Lewis, Tim LaHaye, Bodie and Brock Theone, Jerry B Jenkins, Wanda Brunstetter, Lauraine Snelling, Karen Kingsbury and many others.  Have fun!!

Any book by Karen Kingsbury!  Any of the series by Thoene - Christian books set in Europe OR America before, during and after WW2.   There are a couple more great Christian writers that I simply can't think of the name right now.   IF I were you I'd go to the forum Christian recomdations and ask this question.  LOTS of suggestions there already.

I think the name is God Loves Cracked Pots

I'm on the board of directors for our church library and have a list on my computer at home.  I'll pick out some good ones and list them here this evening.

If she would like fiction books to appeal to teens, I recommend the Binding of the Blade series by L. B. Graham and the Dragonkeepers Chronicles by Donita K. Paul.

I second Lori Wick. She is a great Christian Romance author. I especially like her Kensington Chronicles Series and the Californians! Also, Dee Henderson is good, along with Randy Alcorn and L.B. Graham!
