It was terrific when published. I used it in my therapy practice. In fact, I still have three copies! Two copies I'm putting on pbs. It remains applicable for women who "are still waiting for something external to transform their lives." Also I think that the "complex" is actually socialization rather than a "fear of independence."

My introduction to liberation from self-doubt.

I had heard about this book and wanted to read it. It was supposedly a real break through, revealing that some woman secretly still want what we all saw in the Disney films as we grew up - a man to fall in love with us, to take care of us, to sheild us from the harsh realities of the daily hardships in life, to ease any worries we have, and, above all, to love and adore us.

The book takes hundreds of pages to say this. I'll say it in fewer words: Ladies, time to grow up! Time to admit to yourself that Disney is not reality. Time to stand on your own two feet.
