From back of book: Like Freud, Jung, and Levy-Strauss Fohr recognizes the wisdom folktales embody, but he goes beyond them in arguing that the authors knew what they were doing: they crafted their tales consciouly.

I say: The author is a Ph.D., a professor of philosophy. This book is an erudite dissertation explaining the author's understanding of where folk tales come from, their purposes, etc.
