I had recently read "Water for Elephants," which piqued my curiosity about circus life. "Circus at the Edge of the Earth" chronicles a month with the Great Wallenda circus during a tour of central Canada. Wilkins shares the excitement, tribulations, and mundanities of a traveling circus and introduces us to the nomadic characters (two- and four-legged) that make up the circus troupe. Wilkins' writing is enjoyable, and he easily draws you into circus life past, present, and future.
